LB FOOD PANTRY

LB FOOD PANTRY

Our church actively supports the Food Pantry here in Long Beach.  The Food Pantry is located on Johnson Road directly across from the old Oreck vacuum plant in the Industrial Park.  In 2016,  they fed 3002 families, with the average family size of 2.5.  This means over 7000 people residing in neighborhoods in Long Beach, Pass Christian and Kiln/Delisle were fed on a budget of only $38,843.

Food is purchased from the USDA (US Department of Agriculture), Feeding the Gulf Coast Food Bank, and The Twelve Baskets Food Bank in Gulfport, MS operated by the Catholic charities of Biloxi.   These food banks can provide most food items for 19 cents per pound, so monetary gifts go a long way.   There are also numerous food drives during the year that help keep the shelves stocked.

The Food Pantry of Long Beach is an all volunteer organization.  They depend on community support to achieve their Mission statement: To provide food for needy families and the homeless in our area.
