On January 29th, 2024, First United Methodist Church of Long Beach met to hold an informational meeting to discuss options for moving forward. At the end of that informational meeting, the church’s Council of Ministries convened and voted to proceed forward with entering into the 2549 process.
On February 18, the Long Beach First UMC Church Council voted to select option C in the Mississippi Conference Trustee Church Closure plan.

April 14th Update
On April 14th, the Church Council appointed Exploratory Committee out-briefed the congregation of their findings toward looking for a new denomination. The details of those findings are contained below.
